EDD VOSS

Edd lives with his wife, Polly, just outside of Springdale Washington. Having grown up in Colorado he has always loved the west and especially the mountains.

Over the last 15 years Edd has driven truck across all of the lower 48 states and most of southern Canada pulling vans, refrigerated, flatbed, and a variety of specialized trailers. While Edd pulls oversized loads all over America, Polly takes care of things on the ranch and helps with their photography business. They soon hope to start breeding Paint horses.

His love of photography started during a trip to visit his older brother, Bill, who was living in New York City during the late 60's. Bill introduced Edd to photography and in high school Gordon Parks' book "A Choice of Weapons" had a profound effect on Edd. He took advantage of an Army program to reenlist, for a change of specialty, to attend the U.S. Army Still Photography Course at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. He went on to serve as a photographer at Ft. Knox, Kentucky; Seoul, Korea; Ft. Rucker, Alabama; and Bad Toelz, Germany before leaving active duty in 1980.

After struggling to make a living in his beloved Colorado he moved to Washington State in 1986. First living in the Seattle area, then later moving south to Tacoma after meeting Polly - who grew up in Tacoma. When the opportunity came to move east to the mountains, north of Spokane, they both gladly left the hustle and bustle of the city behind.

Since beginning his driving career in January of 1990 he has logged well over a million miles.

A TREE FOR AMERICA - A Novel
Robert Anjer is a mid-level bureaucrat who dislikes Christmas, and prefers to stay in his safe apartment, or office in D.C. He finds himself being sent to the small town of Leavenworth Washington to supervise the shipment of the national Christmas tree.

Here he meets Ken Rainey the larger-than-life truck driver who is delivering the tree to the White House, and finds out that he must ride along in the truck with the tree. In the beginning it's an eventful trip for both men. He is given a peek into the life of a long haul driver and meets some wonderful people along the way.

But then comes dealing with the weather in Wyoming, and helping a family escape the danger of an impending storm. Now he gets a view of America he never knew existed. The scenery opens up his eyes to just a glimpse of what America has to offer.

This is not a religious book but does give a view of Christmas as a time of giving and caring about our fellow man. It is also just a glimpse into the lives of the men, and women who travel the open road to deliver all the goods we consume as a nation.
