DENNIS N. GRIFFIN

Dennis N. Griffin was born and raised in Rome, New York. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1966, he returned to central New York. He is married and has four adult children. The Griffins currently split their time between New York State and Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Griffin spent over 20 years in investigations and law enforcement in New York State prior to his retirement in 1995. He currently has eight mystery/thrillers published.

In 1996 he began to write his first novel, THE MORGUE, and wrote several others between then and the publication of his first nonfiction book - POLICING LAS VEGAS - a history of law enforcement in Las Vegas and Clark County. Policing was released in April 2005.

His second nonfiction, THE BATTLE FOR LAS VEGAS, tells the story of law enforcement’s efforts to rid Sin City of organized crime’s control of the casinos and street crimes. Battle was released in July 2006.

Huntington Press has accepted Mr. Griffin's proposal to publish his next nonfiction. This manuscript is a work-in-progress and will be completed on or before November 1. He's not at liberty to divulge the details at this time, other than to say it is true crime and is told from the perspective of a career criminal. Release date is in late 2007.

AN EXCITING MENTION: Former FBI agent Dennis Arnoldy and Dennis Griffin have entered into an agreement to be technical advisers to the Vegas Mob Tour (a new bus tour that began in Las Vegas on July 15.)

ANNOUNCEMENT by Dennis: "A London-baesd TV production company contacted me in June regarding a special they are producing for National Geographic. It is a four-part series about organized crime in the United States. One of the segments will be devoted to Las Vegas. The producer read The Battle for Las Vegas and asked for my assistance in helping schedule interviews with some of those who contributed to my book.

I put them in touch with several people and interviews were taped in Vegas the week of August 14. Last week one of their film crews was in Canada shooting a reenactment of the Bertha's burglary that took place on July 4, 1981.

The program may air as early as this December, but sometime next year is more likely. I don't know if Battle will be mentioned in the credits, but the program will certainly create additional interest in that era. That attention will no doubt help in sales of Battle, as well as my upcoming book, the title of which I'm not able to disclose at this time.

When I get the broadcast date for the Vegas piece I'll send an announcement."
